Teen will perform at Carnegie Hall
Ryan DeGregorio, 16, of Manalapan, will perform at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York City, on March 10.
Ryan is a junior at Manalapan High School. He has been playing piano since the age of 4.
Ryan was enrolled in the 2012 Music- Fest Rising Talents Festival by his piano teacher Nina Ichkitidze, who is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
Ryan and piano students from several states auditioned at Princeton Hall Westminster Choir College, Princeton, on Feb. 5. The selection he chose was Czardas by Italian composer Vittorio Monti.
Based on performance, musicians were awarded one of five possible prizes ranging from honorable mention to the highest award of Grand Prix, which is what Ryan accomplished, earning him the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall.
This is the second time Ryan will be performing at Carnegie Hall. He also won the top prize in 2010.
