      Manalapan Parks and Rec. announces fall programs

      MANALAPAN — The township Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting registration for many programs in time for fall. The programming includes many athletic opportunities.

      Registration will begin in September for the following:

      Manalapan Youth Hockey will be starting at the end of September. This program is open to area youth in grades K-12. Games are played at the Manalapan Recreation Center rinks, Route 522.

      Nomad Lacrosse will have a “game only” fall program on Sunday nights. Lacrosse is open to residents and non-residents in grades 3-12. Games will be played on the Manalapan Recreation Center turf field.

      Junior and adult golf clinics will be offered at Farmer Brown’s Golf Center in Howell. Both clinics will begin Oct. 24. Registration for the golf clinics is limited to residents of Manalapan.

      The youth basketball program will be offered again this winter. Youth basketball is open to residents in grades 2-12 this fall.

      Knob Hill Country Lanes, Route 33, Manalapan, is assisting once again with youth and adult/child bowling programs this fall. Both divisions will begin in October.

      Manalapan Recreation’s yoga program begins again this fall as well. Many levels of yoga are offered to area adults, as well as youths ages 8-14. These classes will be held at the Manalapan Senior Center, Route 522, throughout the year.

      Last spring, Manalapan Recreation began working with TRUE Sports Conditioning and the department will offer another program in the fall. TRUE is available to youths ages 8-18, and adults. A free trial week will be offered in September, followed by a six-week session. All classes will be held in the Manalapan Recreation Center.

      Registration will begin in September for the following non-sports programs:

      The Awakenings Theatre Workshop incorporates creative play, storytelling, pantomime and improvisations to develop a variety of characters, stories and plays, concluding with a public stage performance. Classes are open to residents in grade 4 and up and will begin in late September.

      Manalapan Recreation will again offer the Awakenings vocal program, which offers group lessons focusing on pitch, breathing and other singing techniques. Awakenings Voice will begin in late September. This is also open to residents in grade 4 and older.

      Communication Station for Kids is a program which teaches the skills of being a broadcast journalist. Participants create their own newscast which is later aired on MTTN, Manalapan’s local cable television channel. This program is open to resident children ages 9-14, and will begin in mid- October.

      In addition to the new Story Time Yoga, Manalapan Recreation offers the following programs for preschoolers:

      Miss Melissa’s Music for Aardvark class is open to children ages 6 months to 5 years and a caregiver. Classes will begin in mid- September and continue for 10 weeks. Classes are held at the Manalapan Recreation Center on Tuesdays or Fridays.

      Pee-Wee Arts and Crafts classes will begin the week of Sept. 20. These programs are open to resident children ages 3-5 on Mondays or Wednesdays.
