      Troops in Afghanistan appreciate packages
           Iwould like to take this opportunity to thank all of the (Marlboro Elementary School) fifth-graders, parents, teachers and administrators for taking the time to think of us over here in Afghanistan. It was such a great treat to receive all those boxes you put together.

      Responders from first aid squad were terrific
           On the evening of Jan. 10 I had to call 911 because my husband had fallen into a comatose state. The Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad was there almost before I got off the phone. I wish I had the names of all of the people who answered my call because my gratitude to each should not be lumped into one thank you.

      Writer pens a tribute to the two Anita Landsbergers
           Back in 1995, my Aunt Anita asked me to go on a threeweek trip to Switzerland with her. That alone tells you something about her spirit, because she was 85 years old and we were about to embark on a big adventure together. My aunt and uncle had lived in various places in Europe over the years. She longed to go back to Interlaken and see the majestic Swiss Alps once again.

      New Jersey must preserve fair and just housing policy
           Supreme Court decisions over the past 35 years have affirmed and reaffirmed the legal requirement of every community in New Jersey to provide housing that is affordable. As a matter of law, low-wage workers and people of limited means must be given an opportunity to live in any town. The court has been clear in ruling that income cannot be used as a means to segregate people.
