New Jersey Envirothon grant opportunity
      To encourage schools in Middlesex and Monmouth counties to participate in the 2010 New Jersey Envirothon, the Freehold District will provide six $100 grants to new teams that have not participated in a previous Envirothon to help reimburse the expense of team registration. The New Jersey Envirothon is a natural resources problem solving competition for high school students.

Pet adoption event to find homes for hundreds
      The Ocean County Animal Facilities located at 615 Freemont Ave., Jackson, and 360 Haywood Road, Manahawkin, will host an adoption event March 22-28 aimed at finding homes for hundreds of cats and dogs.

      MARLBORO — Two sitting members will seek re-election to the Marlboro K-8 School District Board of Education in the April 20 school election. There will be three available three-year terms on the ballot this year. The terms of Isaac Levy, Michael Lilonsky and Joseph Waldman are ending.

      • “Shooting for a Goal,” a fundraiser to benefit Colts Neck Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, will be held March 21 at Floyd Hall Arena at Monclair University, Montclair. The Colts Neck Steeds hockey team will face off against the New Jersey Devils alumni players. Proceeds will also benefit the Pat Lafontaine Companions in Courage Foundation.
