Golf ID cards available March 15
     With a new tee time reservation system getting ready to make its debut, the Monmouth County Park System has announced the date when golf ID cards will be available for purchase. The date is March 15 – the same day that the courses are scheduled to open for the season (weather permitting).

Higginson paces Princeton; Andrews wins ACC crowns
     Ashley Higginson’s victory in the 1- mile run was the start of a Princeton University avalanche at the 2010 Indoor Track and Field Heptagonal (Ivy League) Championships. Princeton’s women were tied with Brown University after the first day of competition in the two-day meet at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., on Feb. 27-28.

BlueClaws to host FanFest-10
     The Lakewood BlueClaws annual Fan- Fest will return to FirstEnergy Park, New Hampshire and Cedar Bridge avenues, Lakewood, on March 20 from noon to 5 p.m. FanFest marks the day that individual game tickets for the 10th season in Blue- Claws history will go on sale to the general public, and the event will include a full day of free fun at the ballpark.

      Freehold High School baseball staff will conduct a two-day clinic on March 12- 13. Players, parents and coaches are invited to attend. On March 12 the clinic will be held in the Freehold High School gym, Robertsville Road, Freehold Borough, and will run from 6:30-8 p.m. The focus will be on pitching, hitting and infield defense.

March Madness strikes in Freehold Regional

     March Madness struck the Freehold Regional High School District last week. In what may have been the district’s finest week for boys state tournament basketball action, Colts Neck and Howell, respectively, took down the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds and threw the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV state sectional tournament bracket into complete chaos.
