Police seek clues in incident involving teen

MANALAPAN —Manalapan police officers are investigating what may have been an attempted luring of a female juvenile at about 5:30 p.m. March 2.

According to a press release provided by the Manalapan Police Department, the 15- year-old female resident of The Villages residential development, off Woodward Road, was walking near the intersection of Coldsprings and Village roads when she was approached by a vehicle.

According to police, the girl said she noticed a black male driving an older model red sedan slowly toward her and then lean across the vehicle toward the passenger side window and yell, “Hey.”

Police said the girl believes that the man asked her to get into the vehicle, at which time she said she yelled at him and ran to a nearby community clubhouse. The teenager told police she saw the subject speed away from the area in the direction of Millhurst Road.

Police said the girl described the subject as a clean shaven, dark-skinned black male with short hair. No other vehicle information was provided.

Anyone who may have had any similar experiences is asked to contact Detective Eric Schmidt or Patrolman Matthew Mattia at 732-446-4300, ext. 8386.
