John Steven Hancheck Jr.

Mr. Hancheck, 77, a resident of Manalapan for 42 years, died Jan. 22, 2010, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township. Before retiring he was employed at Keystone Plastics in South Plainfield and then Unlimited Auto in Keyport. Mr. Hancheck was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Evelyn; three sons and daughters-in-law, John S. III and Karen of Southampton, Steven C. and Chrissy of Jackson and Thomas J. and Kathleen of Jackson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Dennis Junice of Old Bridge, Donna and John Gawlik of Jackson and Laura and Joseph Volltrauer of Jackson; brother and his wife, Ronald and Gloria of Florida; a sister, Delores Santonastasso of Lanoka Harbor; and 15 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Historic Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. Interment followed at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro, under the direction of the Freeman Funeral Home, Manalapan. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
