John D. Kohlmann Mr. Kohlmann, 92, of Freehold Township, formerly of Staten Island, N.Y., died Feb. 4, 2010, at home. He owned and operated Kohlmann’s Flowers in Staten Island for 40 years, retiring in 1983. Mr. Kohlmann received a two-year degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., in horticulture. Afterward, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and later as a first lieutenant in the U.S. as port commander. Hewas predeceased by his wife, Ruth, in 2002. Surviving are three sons, John D. Kohlmann Jr. and his wife, Virginia, of Pensacola, Fla.; Russell A. Kohlmann and his wife, Mary, of Manalapan, and Roger F. Kohlmann and his wife, Barbara, of Staten Island; and 7 grandchildren. A graveside service was held at Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y. Arrangements were by Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. |
