Manalapan streets designated as targeted enforcement areas

      BY MARK ROSMAN Staff Writer

MANALAPAN — Signs will be posted on a trio of township roads in the near future to advise motorists that motor vehicle laws will be strictly enforced on these thoroughfares.

In keeping with a program that began several years ago, the Manalapan Township Committee at its meeting on Jan. 13 approved the designation of three streets as targeted enforcement areas.

The streets that were designated for enhanced surveillance are Craig Road, Kinney Road and Pine Brook Road, according to a resolution that received unanimous support from all five committee members.

The resolution states that the committee and the chief of police have agreed to designate these targeted enforcement areas throughout Manalapan to ensure the safety of residents.

New signs will be placed on those three roads to let drivers know that their speed will be monitored very closely by police.

The designation of Craig Road, Kinney Road and Pine Brook Road as targeted enforcement areas is effective immediately, according to the resolution.

In other business, the committee passed a resolution authorizing CME Associates to proceed with professional engineering services for a site investigation of the Braun property on Daum Road.

According to a resolution passed by the committee, the township wants to preserve the Braun property as open space in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Green Acres program.

The site investigation will determine the environmental condition of the property, according to the resolution. The cost estimate provided by CME Associates for the work is $26,550 and the work will be paid for by the owner of the property, Pinches Braun.

Township Administrator Tara Lovrich explained that the money to be paid to CME Associates has been placed in an escrow account by the property owner.

In other business, Richard Cohen (fouryear term), John McNaboe (two-year term) and Committeewoman Michelle Roth (oneyear term) were appointed to the Manalapan Planning Board.

Joanne Guerron (three-year term) and John Harrington (three-year term) were appointed to the Shade Tree Committee.

Rebecca Ginsburg (three-year term) and Peter Becker (three-year term) were appointed to the Recreation Advisory Board.

The following individuals were appointed as production volunteers for the Manalapan Township Television Network: Jan Zachary (production manager), Lucyna Olesnicki, Roma Bartos, Shirley Lew, Ted Lindner, Tony Gambaro, Joseph Fezza, Joseph Cuozzo, Gerard Balsamo, Adam Seccafico, Lauren Richmond, Michael Smith, Carly Ferreira, Joseph Caputo, Ed Cohen, Zachary Valdes, Vincent Gallo, Susana Litovsky and April Myers.

In a unanimous vote of committee members, Michael D. Fitzgerald of Law Offices of Michael D. Fitzgerald was appointed as Manalapan’s special counsel for litigation. The anticipated term of the contract is one year. The resolution does not state how much Fitzgerald will be paid for his services.
