      Local music students win ABRSM awards
            Charles Tang, 9, and Kaylee Wong, both students at Monmouth Academy of Musical Arts, were each presented with two awards from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) for their outstanding marks on the associations exams.

      Local students win award for going green
            Four eighth-graders from Howell Middle School North received a Benefit to the Community criteria award in this year’s national eCYBERMISSION competition. The “Going Green Team” team, comprised of students Jazmine Lacson, Angela Arguson, Kelli Mosca and Erika Lau and led by Team Advisor Susan Wylie, will each receive a $2,000 U.S.

      Marching Braves will take over hair salon
            The Manalapan High School (MHS) Marching Braves will host a haircut-athon from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 31 at Salon Cémone, in the Towne Point Shopping Center on Route 9 in Manalapan. All proceeds will benefit the Manalapan High School Marching Braves finance a spring trip to Disneyworld.. Members of the marching band and color guard will manage the salon the day of the haircut-a-thon.

      Audubon Society to meet
            The Monmouth County Audubon Society will meet at 8 p.m. Jan. 13 at Trinity Episcopal Church, White Street, Red Bank. The public is welcome; admission is free. Guest speaker, biologist MacKenzie Hall, will present “Bats — Denizens of the Night.”

      Jersey Shore Rose Society slates meeting
            The Jersey Shore Rose Society, an affiliate of the American Rose Society, will hold a meeting from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Hamilton First Aid Building, 3600 Route 33, Neptune. At the meeting, Pat Bilson will discuss rose arrangements. A beginners’ clinic conducted by consulting Rosarians will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
