Band seeks donations for clothing drive
      The Marlboro Middle School Jazz Band and Show Choir will hold a clothing drive fundraiser on Jan. 30 at the Marlboro Middle School, 355 Route 520, Marlboro. Items needed are gently used clothing (men’s, women’s and children’s), linens, stuffed animals and toys. Clothing should be in welltied garbage bags, toys should be in cardboard boxes. Students of all ages to perform at recital
      Judie Jensen, proprietor of Expressions and Reflections, will present her seventh annual student recital on Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. The recital will be held at the Millstone Township Performing Arts Center, 5 Dawson Court, Millstone Township, and is open to the public. This year’s opening sequence highlights the participation of the McGuire Air Force Base Elite Honor Guard.

Dinner fundraiser planned
      The Freehold Fire Department and the Sons of the American Legion are sponsoring a fundraising dinner for firefighter Billy Anderson from 4-9 p.m. Jan. 16 at the American Legion, 62 W.       The Jersey Shore Rose Society, an affiliate of the American Rose Society, will hold a meeting from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Hamilton First Aid Building, 3600 Route 33, Neptune. Volunteers honored by grand chancellor
      The grand chancellor of the state of New Jersey, the Honorable Harold Weinstein, presented Supreme Lodge Volunteer Awards on Nov. 12 to three members of Covered Bridge Lodge Knights of Pythias. The awards were part of the program initiated by Supreme Chancellor Dan Cowan of California to recognize two million volunteer hours by members of the Knights of Pythias worldwide.

Children’s coat drive planned in Freehold
      The Rotary Club of Freehold is collecting new or gently used coats, hats, scarves and gloves for boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 18. Garments may be dropped off to Derek Eldridge at Ameriprise Financial, 22 Jackson Mills Road, Freehold Township, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Jan. 4-22. The items will be distributed to western Monmouth County families in need through Check-Mate Inc.
