      Howell is the hunted in A North wrestling
            It is a new wrestling season, but things have not changed at the top of the local mat scene. Coach John Gagliano's Howell High School Rebels remain the team the others will be going after. That is fine with the Rebels, who know that if they are to remain one of New Jersey's top 10 teams they have to win their matches no matter who they are facing.

      Amato, Castruita, Pira lead All-FRHSD soccer
            Marlboro High School continued the Freehold Regional High School District's domination of Shore Conference boys soccer during the fall of 2009. Coach Dave Santos' Mustangs (18-3-1) won their first championship — the Shore Conference A North Division crown.

            Colts Neck High School's regular season perfection highlighted the 2009 girls soccer season in the Freehold Regional High School District. Coach Doug Phillips' Cougars won the Shore Conference A North Division championship, which was a surprise to some people.

      SportsZone, Sports Center offer indoor turf fields, tennis, & basketball courts
            Mike Hammer and Todd Berman are successful businessmen who have played sports all of their lives. Both men have been involved with youth soccer in Manalapan for many years, with Hammer currently serving as president.

            Howell's Matt Forys won the 2009 Polar Bear 5-Mile Run held on the Asbury Park boardwalk on Dec. 27. Forys, a former Howell High School and Bucknell University standout, had the boardwalk to himself, winning by almost three minutes in a time of 25:20. Runner-up Jeff Propert of Wall Township stopped the timer in 28:20.
