      Libraries will host charity book drive
            The Monmouth County Library has launched its annual Books for Kids book donation drive. Books for preschoolers through age 14 will be accepted through Dec. 1 at any county library branch. The books will be distributed to local charities and community agencies that serve children with limited access to books.

      Irwin Service Center collects for Open Door
            Irwin Service Center, 4000 Route 9 south, Freehold Township, is collecting food for the Open Door food pantry, Freehold, during November. Every item donated will earn $1 off a customer's service bill. Items in need at the food pantry are: hot cereal, rice, tuna fish, coffee, tea, canned soup, jelly, snacks, as well as other nonperishable food items.

      Goddard is drop-off site for coat collection
            The Goddard School of South Old Bridge, 1480 Englishtown Road (Route 527), Old Bridge, is serving as a collection site for the 14th annual Jersey Cares coat drive. Donations of gently used, clean coats may be dropped off at the school 7 a.m.-6 p.m. through Dec. 11. Contributions will be given to New Jersey families in need.

      Hospital auxiliary slates trip to A.C.
            The CentraState Medical Center Auxiliary will host a Christmas day trip to the Trump Marina Hotel in Atlantic City on Dec. 25. The cost of $30 includes $25 back in cash plus $5 for food. No one under age 21 will be allowed on the trip.

      Benefit concert will feature Spector, Love
            The Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County will present a holiday benefit concert, "A Christmas Gift For You," at 8 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Count Basie Theatre, Monmouth Street, Red Bank.

      Open Hearts for Open Door Food Pantry
            Jeanne Yaecker, director of the Freehold Open Door Food Pantry, recently accepted a check for $7,310 from St. Rose of Lima Parish, Freehold, on behalf of pantry. St. Rose of Lima Church Finance Committee Chairman Alec Taylor presented the proceeds to Yaecker, which were raised for Open Door during a collection that took place the weekend of June 6-7.

            The American Association of University Women's Freehold Chapter is currently accepting book donations for its annual book sale. With the exception of Reader's Digest and textbooks, all book donations are appreciated. Contact Joan at 732-431-2297 for drop-off instructions.

      Colonial Fair planned for Nov. 13 and 14
            The annual Colonial Fair is set for 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 13 and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 14 at First Presbyterian Church, 45 Market St., Perth Amboy. The event will feature a Colonial display on stage. Homemade food will be available 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 13 and 11 a.m.
