Pact for road work awarded MARLBORO — As part of Marlboro's 2009 road improvement program, a contract was awarded to AMC Industries for work that is expected to take place this fall. The contract awarded to AMC Industries, of Holmdel, was in the amount of $884,433. The company submitted the low bid among nine bidders for the job. The roads to be improved are Topanemus Road from Colts Brook Road to Robertsville Road; Wyncrest Road from Route 18 to Route 520; Gordons Corner Road from Church Road to Vista Drive (east) and Gordons Corner Road from Vista Drive (west) to Marlboro's border with Manalapan. The stretch of Gordons Corner Road betweenVista Drive east and west was recently paved as part of the Robertsville Road improvements. An ordinance appropriating a total of $1.75 million and providing for the issuance of $1.66 million in bonds for the road improvement project was adopted by the council on Sept. 10. According to information posted on the township's Internet website, in addition to replacing the road overlay, deteriorated concrete curbs and curb ramps will be replaced. The roads will be re-striped and existing inlets will be reconstructed with bicycle-safe grates and ECO-type castings to comply with Marlboro's storm water control ordinance. |
