The Patriots were poised to beat the Cougars on Oct. 5 and move into a first-place tie in the Shore Conference A North Division.

            Now that the Freehold Township High School girls gymnastics team is realizing its potential, the rest of the Shore Conference is learning just how good the Patriots are. The undefeated Patriots have established themselves as the team to beat when Brick Memorial High School hosts the Shore Conference Championships on Oct. 31.

            Jimmy Ryan was not anxious to leave the football field on the campus of Howell High School on the night of Oct. 9. "I'm enjoying this," Ryan said after leading Howell (5-0) to a 48-21 win over Manalapan High School on the Rebels' home turf.

      Howell grad Joe Parella among top scorers in U.S.
            There is a reason that Mike Costa maintains a large roster. His Brookdale Community College men's soccer team has been playing every other day for much of the season and the schedule has taken a toll on the players. Injuries have mounted, preventing Costa from having a set lineup from day to day, and leading to what he said was "inconsistent play.
