            With one swift move more than 2 miles into a 3.1-mile race, Freehold High School's Mackenzie Roche ran her way to history. Freehold Township High School's Eric Dynarski overcame a wrong turn to earn individual glory for himself and help his team win a championship that it last won in 1996.

            Freehold High School girls soccer coach Elyse Ingui is in an unfamiliar position this fall. "It's a new role for me; I'm seeing a team built," she said. In her first two years on the sidelines, Ingui had a veteran group of players who were an established entity.

            Frank Gualtieri has always held himself and his Freehold Township High School baseball teams to a very high standard. So after the 2009 season, when the Patriots' veteran head coach sensed that the total dedication it takes to be a head coach was missing, he decided the time was right to pass the position on to someone else.

            The Monmouth University men's soccer team is reaching new heights this fall. The Hawks (9-0-1) have earned a top 10 ranking for the first time in the program's history. Coach Robert McCourt's squad is ranked No. 10 in this week's NSCAA/adidas national rankings.

      Track plans big day of racing
            The Oct. 24 "Tommy Comerford Memorial" will offer plenty of racing action at Wall Stadium, Wall Township. In addition to the twin 66-lap main events for the tour type Modifieds, the Calabreeze Pools Sportsman division, the Street Stocks, the INEX Legend Cars and the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will also be on the card.
