It was with bittersweet feelings that I read about James Wasser's intent to resign from his position as the superintendent of schools in the Freehold Regional High School District. More ... It is time for the News Transcript to stop providing Greg Bean a forum to criticize the people of Manalapan. In his article of Sept. 16, he wrote, "And speaking of rude behavior, in Manalapan — which has the greatest concentration of rude people per capita in New Jersey, maybe even in America — they seem to be writing their own textbook on the subject. As the president of the Marlboro Township Education Association (MTEA), which represents nearly 800 teachers and school employees, I have spent nearly two years trying to settle a fair contract for Marlboro's public school employees. More ... It appears the News Transcript permitted (Freehold Regional High School District Superintendent of Schools) H. James Wasser to write his own column as opposed to attempting to bring facts to the readers. Why is Mr. Wasser now going to have a "new" position as administrator for special projects? More ... This will respond to the letter to the editor from Butch Budai, in which he attacks the steps taken by Mayor Rick Klauber to improve civility in the conduct of the Manalapan Township Committee meetings, and criticizes the Township Committee for keeping taxes flat ("School District, Not Town, Is Responsible for Stable Taxes," News Transcript, Sept. 23, 2009). More ... Life is about sharing — caring and responsibility. I know you teachers "care" about the youngsters you teach, and in Marlboro you are well paid. The "sharing of responsibility" element involves the cost of health care insurance. More ... I am a resident of Marlboro and after reading the article ("Board Goes Public With Latest Offer," News Transcript, Sept. 16) about the Marlboro Township EducationAssociation (MTEA) and its "negotiations" with the Marlboro Board of Education, I am both shocked and amazed at what is going on. More ... I listened to the news reporters discussing Gov. Rod Blagojevich's attempt to sell them an Illinois U.S. Senate seat for a million dollars. It was frequently stated that Chicago politics is known to be corrupt. I heard one reporter make the following statement, quote, "Chicago politics is so corrupt, almost as corrupt as politics in New Jersey. More ... I wish to respond to a letter to the editor that appeared in the Sept. 9 News Transcript ("New Jersey Cannot Survive Four More Years of Gov. Jon Corzine"). Gov. Corzine has done a fine job. He correctly reacted to the recession by reducing the state budget and the number of state employees. More ... |
