      National titles topped Andrews' great season
      Manalapan grad is picked as Male Athlete of the Year
            The U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in June 2008 were a turning point for Robby Andrews. At that time Andrews was getting ready to begin his senior year at Manalapan High School. Attending the trials, which were held at the University of Oregon's historic Hayward Field, with his father, Rob Sr., Andrews was moved by what he witnessed.

      Libonati ready to make mark at Rutgers
            Football players generally do not look forward to the start of preseason practice. It means two-a-days in the heat and humidity of August. The experience is similar to going to military boot camp. There is one local player, however, who cannot wait for preseason football practice to start in August and that is Howell High School graduate Nicholas Libonati.

      Manalapan's Gilburn shines in grid game
      Freehold's Tyson & Brown connect one last time in Monmouth County win
            Jim Gilburn had an inkling that he would be playing an important role for the Monmouth County all-stars in the 2009 U.S. Army All-Shore Gridiron Classic. In practices leading up to the July 17 game he had impressed the Monmouth County coaching staff, which was being directed by Freehold High School Coach Mark Ciccotelli.

      FTLL Seniors capture fourth District title
            Familiarity does not always breed contempt. In the case of the Freehold Township Little League Senior League All-Star team (15- and 16-yearolds), familiarity breeds success. The all-stars waltzed through the Little League District 19 tournament field, surrendering just one run (on a balk) in capturing the District 19 pennant.
