On July 8 a Monmouth County Grand Jury returned a seven-count indictment charging former Marlboro Police Chief Robert C. Holmes, 61, of Marlboro, with two counts of first degree aggravated sexual assault. The indictment also charges Holmes with two counts of second degree sexual assault and one count of second degree endangering the welfare of a child, as well as one count each of third degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and fourth degree criminal sexual contact.
