Many people deserve thanks for helping out
      The Samaritan Center wishes to thank the U.S. Postal Service workers in the Manalapan Post Office and the people on their routes for the generous outpouring of food in May. We received 10,000 pounds of food. This is a great help to us as we work to provide food to the increasing number of families needing our services in this area.

Resident is not keen on idea to lay off local police dispatchers
      Freehold Township committeemen along with Thomas Antus, our township administrator, have found their possible solution to keeping our cops, at least for this year. Their new idea is to fire 10 dispatch people. These people are the lifeline between our police officers and the public calling for police assistance or medical emergencies.

All involved worked hard to shift event to high school
      Manalapan Day on June 13 was one of our town's finest hours. Yes, it started raining an hour into the event and we had to cancel the rest of the outdoor activities, but this was an example of volunteers working with township officials and many others to make the best of a very difficult situation. There was no one person who "saved the day." There were many.

Couple is appreciative for support received at May event
      We would like to thank each and every person who contributed to our May 2 fundraiser. This past year has been difficult, and without the help of family, friends and complete strangers, we would not have made it this far. We are absolutely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity.
