      Manalapan H.S. senior runs 4:03.49; second fastest time in N.J. history
            Robby Andrews stuck to his guns. When the pace picked up on the third lap of the Portland Track Festival Invitation Mile on the night of June 13, Andrews, a Manalapan High School senior, was not going to let anyone get away from him.

      MEMS wins seventh-grade baseball championship
            The Manalapan Englishtown Middle School (MEMS) seventh grade baseball team did not let the big one slip away. One week after losing to the Wall Intermediate School in the game that decided the Shore Intermediate Baseball League American League regular season title, the two teams were on the field again competing for the playoff championship.

            The 14th annual SBOANJ golf outing will take place on July 13 at Gambler Ridge Golf Club in Cream Ridge. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Horsemen's Benevolent Fund. Sponsors are being sought at levels ranging from $100 to $2,000. The cost of the outing is $135 per golfer. The cost of dinner only is $50.

            While Howell High School dominated the team competition on the local high school golf scene this spring, the individual wealth was shared among golfers in the Freehold Regional High School District. Howell High School's Corey Carrick struck first by winning the Monmouth County Tournament championship.

      Marlboro Memorial wins 1st baseball championship
            Awalk-off home run provided the dramatic backdrop for the first baseball championship won by the Marlboro Memorial Middle School eighth grade team. Marlboro Memorial defeated the Manalapan Englishtown Middle School, 5-3, to capture the Shore Intermediate Baseball League National League championship.

      Dixon claims fifth SuperNationals win
            Larry Dixon likes coming to Raceway Park in Old Bridge for a good reason. The Top Fuel driver has developed a knack for winning races at the track. On June 14 at the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) United Association NHRA SuperNationals, Dixon won his fifth title at Raceway Park when his final round opponent, Antron Brown, fouled at the starting line.
