      Braves capture A North baseball championship
      Sac fly by Ramirez plates winning run vs. Middletown North
            The wild, wild Shore Conference A North Division baseball championship was finally settled on May 14 when Manalapan High School secured the title no one seemed to want. The Braves defeated Middletown North, 7-6, at home when Joe Ramirez's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Alex DeCastro with the winning run.

      Colts Neck edges Freehold Twp., 71-69, to win A North crown
            Half an inch. That is ultimately what separated the Colts Neck High School and Freehold Township High School girls track and field teams. In a highly anticipated showdown on May 12 for the Shore Conference A North Division title at Middletown South High School, Coach Joe Lykes' Colts Neck Cougars extended their dual meet win streak to 35, but just barely.

      Unachukwu (triple jump), & Reese (long jump) also claim gold medals
            Rob Andrews continues to display his uncanny range. The Manalapan High School senior took a shot at the Shore Conference's best 400-meter sprinters and got the best of them on May 15 by winning the conference championship in a personal best time of 49.13 at Neptune High School.

            Listen to the weatherman and you may have missed a very good weekend of bass fishing. It was a 50/50 with chances of stiff winds, chances of thunderstorms and plenty of fog covering Raritan Bay all the way to Delaware Bay. With the urge to land a few trophy bass, most Garden State anglers took their chances and ventured out anyway.
