      April's FRHSD school board election was a referendum for change
            The new Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education meeting that was held on April 27 was interesting to say the least. Under a PowerPoint presentation page, which read in bold letters, "School Board Ethics," the newly elected representatives, Barry Hochberg, Jennifer Sutera and Heshy Moses, along with William Bruno, took their seats on the board.

      Board member wanted state funds used for tax relief
            In a recent letter to the editor ("School Board Member Owes An Explanation," News Transcript, May 6), Arlene Amtzis expressed some concern over a recent decision I made as a Board of Education member here in Freehold Borough. Ms. Amtzis has requested an explanation and as an elected official, I feel I must respond.

      Woman thankful for efforts dedicated to senior citizens
            I recently read an article in the Greater Media Newspapers publication the Atlanticville, sent in by Sara Markowitz, 14, of Ocean Township. Sara has founded the charity Generations Eldercare that provides equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, etc., to senior citizens.

      RCAs did not effectively address state's housing need
            There is a critical shortage of housing throughout New Jersey, making it impossible for hundreds of thousands of working families to live within reasonable distances of their jobs. This predicament leads directly to increased congestion, pollution and time spent on the roads for all of us, and a decrease in everyone's quality of life.

      Mayor was wrong to remove Memorial Day parade poster
