      Community Band will perform in Colts Neck
            The Colts Neck Community Band will perform at Colts Neck High School, Route 537 and Five Points Road, Colts Neck, at 7:30 p.m. April 2. Conducted by Lyn Lewis, Richard Grossman, Joseph Lawler and Kelly Tyma, the band is now in its seventh season. The New Jersey Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Roy D. Gussman, will also perform at the concert.

      Rose-pruning demo April 4 in Eatontown
            The Jersey Shore Rose Society (JSRS), will hold a hands-on rose pruning demonstration 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 4 at Wampum Park, Route 35 south, Eatontown (rain date, April 5). The event is free and open to the public. Attendees should bring gardening gloves and pruners.

      Celebrate anniversary of local congregation
            Congregation Kol Am invites the public to join in the congregation's seventh anniversary celebration at a dinner dance honoring the Congregation Kol Am Choir.       St. Rose of Lima School to host Jag Jog'
            St. Rose of Lima School, Freehold, will hold its first 5K Fun Run/Walk and 1-mile Kids Run/Walk at Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Manalapan, on March 28. Registration for the "Jag Jog" will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the Kids Fun Run/Walk at 10:30 a.m. and the 5K Fun Run/Walk at 11 a.m. Awards will be given to overall winners, including alumnus and student finishers.

      Party prepares for Ray of Hope Gala
            Catholic Charities, of the Diocese of Trenton, recently celebrated the kickoff of its Monmouth County annual fundraiser, Ray of Hope Gala, at the Colts Neck home of Valerie and Tom DeFelice. Co-chairing this year's event are Mary Ellen Burris and Maureen Donnelly, both of Middletown. Barbara Fleming of Spring Lake is vice chairwoman.

            Monmouth County Genealogy Society will present the workshop "Colonial Records, 1607-1800" from 8:50 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 21 at the Eatontown Community Center, 68 Broad St. Workshop topics will include Colonial handwriting, church records, land records, military records, tax records, census substitutes and New England Research.

      Movie to be screened for date night
            Who needs Valentine's Day to celebrate the union between a man and a woman? On March 21 at 7 p.m., Faith Evangelical Free Church (FEFC) invites married couples and single adults to bring a friend or two and grab a container of popcorn for a free showing of "Fireproof" at the FEFC building, 875 Route 33, Howell.

            Asperger Syndrome Education Network (ASPEN) of Western Monmouth County will hold its annual spring conference from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 22 at the Hilton Woodbridge, Iselin. The theme of the conference will be "Educating Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders Beyond the Academics: Social-Emotional and Life Skills.
