      Gov.'s affordable housing law is destructive to New Jersey

            In response to a letter to the editor written by a resident of the 12th Legislative District, I would like to clarify my position on affordable housing and separately on Gov. Jon Corzine's new affordable housing law. No one disagrees that New Jersey needs affordable housing — state legislators agree unanimously with that premise.

      Sister Marie: a fighter even when the odds are stacked against her

            News that St. Joseph School in Keyport will close despite the valiant efforts of its principal, parents and alumni triggered a deep sadness in me. As a Freehold Township resident, I don't have much personal knowledge of St. Joseph's, but I do know its principal, Sister Marie Agnes Connolly. And if she has faith in the school, it is definitely worth saving.

            Iwonder what the mavens at the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) who came up with the latest round of affordable housing numbers are thinking today. Perhaps it is something on the order of, "We could not have come up with a more awful plan at this time in America's history if we tried.
