      Patriots capture CJ IV indoor track crown
            The Freehold Township High School boys track team added the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV track championship to its impressive list of achievements this winter. The Patriots have also nailed down the Shore Conference A North Division, Monmouth County and Shore Conference titles this winter.

      Colonials bid for spot in N.J. hockey tourney
            Freehold High School and ice hockey are a good mix. The Colonials are proving it this winter. In their inaugural season, the Colonials have been anything but a pushover. Coach Brian Simpson's skaters are 7-9-1 overall and have a chance to qualify for the NJSIAA state tournament, which would be quite an achievement.

      Howell wrestlers open team tournament action
            What the Howell High School wrestling team hopes will be the road to the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV team championship begins tonight. Coach John Gagliano's Rebels, who wrapped up a fourth straight Shore Conference A North Division title earlier in the season, are the No. 2 seed in the state sectional bracket and will host a semifinal match tonight at 7 p.m.

            Wayne Anderson thought the environment at Marlboro High School would be conducive to ice hockey. Although Marlboro, like four other Freehold Regional High School District schools, would be fielding a varsity team for the first time this winter, Anderson was familiar enough with the area to believe there was a foundation for a successful program.

      FTHS bowlers capture division championship
            This time, all the pins fell down. The Freehold Township High School boys bowling has been a serious contender for a Shore Conference division title the past few years, but the Patriots had yet to secure a championship. This winter, they went from contenders to champions.

      Unachukwu accepts offer to attend U. of Michigan
            Marlboro High School senior Ada Unachukwu, one of the finest multievent track and field athletes in New Jersey, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. "I looked at all the aspects of it," Unachukwu said of her decision.
