      Conservation poster contest focuses on soil
            "Dig It! The Secrets of Soil" is the theme for the 2009 Conservation Poster Contest sponsored by the Freehold Soil Conservation District and the New Jersey Association of Conservation Districts. Students from Middlesex and Monmouth counties are encouraged to learn about the importance of soil in everyday life and to illustrate their ideas.

      Dinner-dance set for mothers & sons
            Howell Recreation will present a Mother and Son Doo Wop Dinner and Dance from 6-9 p.m. April, 3, 17 and 24 at Our House Restaurant, Howell. The cost is $31 per person and reservations are taken only with payment. Reservations are first-come, first-served. The evening will consist of a dinner buffet, music, dancing, and a color photo taken by a professional photographer.

            The Probation Association of New Jersey (PANJ) has chosen Cynthia Westendorf as the organization's 2008 Citizen of the Year for her dedication in working with children who are traumatized as a of domestic violence or sexual abuse.

      Cecilian Music Club plans Monster Concert
            The Cecilian Music Club, sponsored by Steinway Hall Paramus and its manager John Weis, will present its 11th annual multiple piano Monster Concert at 3 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank. This ensemble of 35 Steinway baby grand pianos is a unique event presented in New Jersey only by the Cecilian Music Club.
