      Dinner-dance set for mothers & sons
            Howell Recreation will present a Mother and Son Doo Wop Dinner and Dance from 6-9 p.m. April, 3, 17 and 24 at Our House Restaurant, Howell. The cost is $31 per person and reservations are taken only with payment. Reservations are first-come, first-served. The evening will consist of a dinner buffet, music, dancing, and a color photo taken by a professional photographer.

      Volunteers sought for youth help line
            Volunteers are needed to answer phones at 2NDFLOOR, a youth help line available for young people to call any time of the day or night about anything on their minds. It is available to children and young adults between the ages of 10 and 24.

      Applewood residents support U.S. troops
            Residents at Applewood Estates, a CentraState Healthcare System retirement community in Freehold Township, have donated food and supplies to soldiers in the Army's 68th Transportation Company who are stationed in Iraq. Each holiday season, the community unites to perform a significant community service project.

      Expanded ICU will be built at hospital
            CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, has begun construction of a new and expanded Intensive Care Unit on the fifth floor of the Blanchet-Phillis Memorial Tower (east wing). According to a press release, the $15 million project is part of CentraState's commitment to providing high-quality care and the latest technologies to patients.

      Used books requested
            Donations of used books are being accepted for the annual Freehold American Association of University Women used book sale. Adult and children's fiction and nonfiction books are welcome; textbooks are not accepted. Profits are used by the Freehold AAUW for national and local scholarships and local community projects.       Auditions
            Center Players will hold open auditions for a presentation of "The Odd Couple: Female Version" at 8 p.m. Jan. 2 and at 10 a.m. Jan. 3 at the Center Playhouse, 35 South St., Freehold. The show will open March 6 and run for five weekends through April 5. Needed are six females who can play ages 35-60 and two males who can play ages 25- 55.
