Frank Stavola
      Mr. Stavola, 81, of Middletown, died Oct. 29, 2008, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a founder of Stavola Company, a registered cattle farmer, and past president of the New Jersey Asphalt Paving Association. He was predeceased by a son, Frank Jr., in 1996; two brothers, John and Mike; and three sisters, Mary Buttel, Lou DePiero and Neddie Ottinger.

      Mrs. Melher, 44, of Oakdale, Conn., died Oct. 27, 2008, after a battle with colon cancer. She was on leave from her employer, Pfizer's Inc., where she had worked for the past 10 years. Mrs. Melher was predeceased by her father, Edward Steven. Surviving are her husband, PJ Melher; a son, Christopher Yeager of Oakdale, Conn.

Abraham H. Kaplan
      Mr. Kaplan, 97, of Washington, D.C., and formerly of Freehold, died Oct. 31, 2008, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Washington, D.C. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during World War II. After marrying Frieda Miller of Freehold in 1941, he joined his in-law's dry cleaning and men's clothing business.

      Mr. Cranmer, 91, a resident of Freehold for more than 60 years, died Oct. 26, 2008, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.       Mrs. King, 91, of the Villages in Howell, died on Oct. 28, 2008. She worked briefly as a nurse at Marlboro State Hospital, but the majority of her life was spent as a homemaker.
