      Frank Stavola
            Mr. Stavola, 81, of Middletown, died Oct. 29, 2008, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a founder of Stavola Company, a registered cattle farmer, and past president of the New Jersey Asphalt Paving Association. He was predeceased by a son, Frank Jr., in 1996; two brothers, John and Mike; and three sisters, Mary Buttel, Lou DePiero and Neddie Ottinger.

      Anne Marie Melher
            Mrs. Melher, 44, of Oakdale, Conn., died Oct. 27, 2008, after a battle with colon cancer. She was on leave from her employer, Pfizer's Inc., where she had worked for the past 10 years. Mrs. Melher was predeceased by her father, Edward Steven. Surviving are her husband, PJ Melher; a son, Christopher Yeager of Oakdale, Conn.

      Abraham H. Kaplan
            Mr. Kaplan, 97, of Washington, D.C., and formerly of Freehold, died Oct. 31, 2008, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Washington, D.C. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during World War II. After marrying Frieda Miller of Freehold in 1941, he joined his in-law's dry cleaning and men's clothing business.

      Alfred G. "Whitey" Cranmer
            Mr. Cranmer, 91, a resident of Freehold for more than 60 years, died Oct. 26, 2008, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and participated in the Battle of Bulge. His wife, Jennie Mae Cranmer, died in 1988. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, David G.

      Dorothy L. Jackson
            Mrs. Jackson, 74, of Freehold, died Oct. 27, 2008, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Jackson was born in Andalusia, Ala. Surviving are her husband, Leonard Jackson; a son, Jonathan Jackson of Freehold; two daughters, Deborah Ellis of Cliffwood and Denise Boxwill of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, James Ellis Jr.

      Helen King
            Mrs. King, 91, of the Villages in Howell, died on Oct. 28, 2008. She worked briefly as a nurse at Marlboro State Hospital, but the majority of her life was spent as a homemaker. Her husband of 47 years, Joseph F. King Jr., died in 1987. Mrs. King is survived by two daughters, Diane King of Freehold and Pat King of Milwaukee, Wis.; a son, Joseph A.

            Dr. Bill Saker, 52, of Colorado and formerly of Freehold, died Oct. 28, 2008, in Boulder, Colo., after a long illness. He was a graduate of St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel, and Boston College, earning his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Denver. Dr.
