Colonials, Cougars keep on winning

      That winning beat goes on for the Freehold Borough and Colts Neck high school football teams. Mark Ciccotelli's Freehold Borough Colonials celebrated homecoming Saturday with a big 48-14 win over Central Regional that the kept the Shore Federal Division leaders undefeated. The win also clinched no worse than a tie for the division title.

      Freehold Borough has lost none of its overtime magic. Locked in a scoreless tie with Ocean Township, a soccer team the Colonial girls had already beaten twice this year, they avoided the dreaded shoot-out against a hot goalie when Alexa Rozzi scored in the 99th minute of Friday's Shore Conference Tournament Round of 16 for the top seed.

      Emily Knight expected a great season for her Freehold Borough gymnastics team and so far, it has been just that. The Colonials have won the Shore ConferenceBNorthDivision title and are undefeated in dual meets (9-0). They scored a school record of 109.025 points in their most recent win over Freehold Township (105.75).

      Freehold Township's Eve Kinsella won two events for the Boston University women's swimming and diving team in the Terriers 148-93 victory over Massachusetts. Kinsella, a senior, won the 200 individual medley (2:07.41) and the 100 freestyle (52.82). In addition, she swam the anchor leg on the Terriers 400-medley relay team that turned in the fastest time of the day (3:32.
