Although Shore Conference Federal Division champions and a state playoff team in 2007, most in the Shore area were quick to dismiss Freehold Borough this year. Starting in 2002, Ira and Debbie Shapiro and their sons Lane and Hayden set off on a journey of visiting all 30 Major League ballparks. After seven summers of vacations on the road, they made their final stop in Washington, D.C.

Monmouth Battlefield in Manalapan hosted the annual Shore Coaches Battle of Monmouth Class Meet. Marlboro's girls captured the Senior Division title by placing its three runners in the first eight.

      Craig Forys returned to the site of some of his finest high school races, Van Cortlandt Park (VCP) in the Bronx, NYC, with the University of Michigan men's cross country team. The last time Forys had been at VCP, he was a senior at Colts Neck High School and he won the Foot Locker Northeast Qualifier in a state record 15:15.2.
