Employees responsible for board's predicament
      The Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education has been directed by the state of New Jersey Commission on Higher Education to "bring to our attention any specific instances in which school district employees may be in violation of state law.

      Cara Smith, 17, of Brielle, was named the winner of the 2008 Freehold Idol contest in Freehold Borough on Aug. 21. Cara's hometown was incorrect in an article that appeared in the Sept. 3 edition of the News Transcript.
