DiLeo wins JGA's summer tour finale Manalapan's Pat DiLeo won the final regular-season stop on the Junior Golf America Summer Tour held at Hawk Pointe Golf Club in Washington Township. A prior winner in '08, the Manalapan High School senior carded a 78 to win the Master Boys 16-19 age division. Far back in second was David Costaney from Andover, who shot a 95. Matthew Gurule from Carle Place, N.Y., was first in the Boys 14-15 bracket shooting an 88. Just one stroke behind in second with an 89 was Shane Kennedy from Pearl River, N.Y. Plainsboro's Rich Wehringer was third (93). Basking Ridge's Hana Ku won the 12- 13-year-old age bracket with a 78. Sean Keane of Mountainside was second (84), and another Mountainside resident, Joey Iorio, was third (87). Anina Ku made it a sweep for the Ku brothers, winning the 8-9 age division scoring a 47 over nine holes. DiLeo, a senior at Manalapan High School, had the low scoring average of the tour at 73.12 for 18 holes. He won four of the seven tournaments he entered. Howell High School's Trevor Rockhill, a two-time tournament winner during the summer, was runner-up with a 75.60 average. Fair Haven's Charlie Edler was third (76.33). Edler won the only two tournaments he entered. In the Player of the Year standings in the division, DiLeo and Rockhill went onetwo as well. Monmouth Junction's Curren Mody tied for the most wins during the summer, winning six tournaments in the Boys 10- 11 division. He is sitting in first place in the division's Player of the Year race. Douglas Walter from Blairstown tied Mody for the most wins, six, and sits atop the Boys 14-15 Player of the Year competition. Hana Ku had the most Top 10 finishes, 12. That puts him in first place in the Boys 12-13 Player of the Year standings. Anina Ku is in first place in the 8-9 bracket. He has nine Top 10 finishes and has never been lower than third. He won the final three tournaments of the season. Jordan Glatt of Doylestown, Pa., 14, is the Girls Player of the Year. She won five straight tournaments after a fourth place in her first tournament. There is still plenty of golf ahead for the juniors. The JGA's fall season tees off on Sept. 13 at Sun Eagles Golf Club in Tinton Falls. Among the area stops on the eightevent calendar are Cream Ridge Golf Club on Oct. 4 and Cranbury Golf Club on Oct. 26. The Cranbury tournament is the finale for the fall. During the course of the year, the JGA has offered more than 50 tournaments in the New Jersey-New York area. Now in its ninth year, the JGA is the largest junior golf organization in the Northeast.
