      Resident frustrated with lack of discussion about superintendent
            I was at the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education meeting on Aug. 25 and was one of the ones who spoke my mind. As with most others there, we were flabbergasted at the report given by (the state Department of Education) indicating that there was nothing wrong and that there should be modifications to their policies not to allow this in the future.

      Paper did fine job on story about Israeli girls
            On behalf of Chabad of Western Monmouth County, I want to thank the News Transcript for the outstanding article ("Israeli Guests Enjoying N.J. Summer of Peace"), which appeared on July 23, about the girls from Sderot, Israel, who were brought by Chabad to spend a month in our community.

      New Jersey's preservation pipeline slowing to a trickle
            The last of New Jersey's farmland preservation funding was allocated at the end of July. The last of its open space and historic preservation funds will be officially committed to projects this fall. Then the preservation pipeline will run dry — unless the state Legislature acts quickly to replenish funding for the Garden State Preservation Trust (GSPT).

      Senior has questions about tickets handed out in park
            The police are everywhere! I was playing tennis in Michael Tighe Park in Freehold Township. Anyone who has gone to the park at 9 a.m. knows that the parking lots near the tennis courts are empty. My friend and I got a ticket for parking over the white line. The ticket cost $50. I was furious and could not understand the reason for the ticket.
