      Free life-skills dinner series to begin
            The Freehold Municipal Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse will offer a free dinner series that addresses concerns and issues faced by parents in today's society. The first workshop, offered May 10, will address "10 Steps to Keep Your Children Drug Free," and the second, "Understanding Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders" will be held May 22.

      Boys and Girls Clubs seek donations of cars
            New Jersey Boys and Girls Clubs are accepting donations of cars. The money received from the sale of the cars will be used to help make the clubs a positive place for kids. For information on donating cars, contact (800) 246-0493. No restrictions apply. Cars will be picked up within a few days of the call.

            Parent Mentors, a free program of the Monmouth County Division of Social Services can lend positive support to moms who are overwhelmed by the responsibilities that accompany being a mother. A mentor is an experienced mom who becomes a special friend to a newer mom.

      Manalapan H.S. Booster Club offers scholarships
            The Manalapan High School Booster Club has a scholarship program for graduating seniors who plan to continue their education. Two scholarships are being offered in the amount of $1,000 each for students who will be attending a four-year college.

      Make a difference in the life of a Fresh Air child
            The Fresh Air Fund's Northern Monmouth County area committee is seeking volunteers who want to make a difference in a child's life this summer. Each summer, close to 5,000 children from New York City, ages six to 18, enjoy two-week vacations with volunteer host families in suburban and small town communities across 13 northeastern states and Ontario, Canada.

      ORT will host trip to Cape Cod in September
            ORT America, an organization for educational resources through technical training, will host a trip to Cape Cod, Sept. 7-11. Ferry tours to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and a stop atMohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut will be included in the itinerary. The cost of $617 (double occupancy) and $755 (single occupancy) will include four breakfasts and four dinners.

            Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore has announced early bird registration for Girl Scouts is now under way. Parents registering daughters for the 2008-09 Girl Scout year as an early bird receive extra benefits and save money. Girls are eligible for a 50 percent discount on one of several fall programs, and an early bird patch.
