      Aberdeen synagogue offers morning service
            Temple Beth Ahm of Aberdeen has expanded its weekday morning minyan services to five days a week. The services, which are led by temple members, begin at 8 a.m. and run between 30 and 45 minutes. On federal holidays minyan services start at 9 a.m. The morning services are followed by a bagel breakfast. For more information call (732) 583-1700.

      Temple members donate items to nursing home
            As part of its February project, the Marlboro Jewish Center Social Action Committee collected toiletries for about 175 residents at the John Montgomery Medical Home in Freehold. Members donated enough items to fill five large boxes, which is estimated to be enough to last a year, according to a press release.

      YMCA will celebrate Healthy Kids Day
            On April 12, YMCAs across the nation will be celebrating Healthy Kids Day. This year the theme is "Health in the Home." To promote this idea in the community, the YMCA of Western Monmouth County, East Freehold Road, Freehold Township, will be hosting a free afternoon of activities from 1-5 p.m., geared to "healthy family fun.

      Night at the Races fundraiser to help women
            Women Helping Women (WHW) will host its 12th annual "Night at the Races" fundraiser May 2 at the Pegasus restaurant overlooking the Meadowlands racetrack, East Rutherford. Each year hundreds participate in this event, which includes horse racing, betting, a raffle and buffet.

      Freehold AAUW welcomes used books
            Donations of used books are being sought by the FreeholdArea Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for its annual book sale. Adult and children's fiction and nonfiction are needed, but not encyclopedias or textbooks. Proceeds of the sale will help fund local and national scholarships and educational projects.

      ORT will visit Cape Cod
            ORT America, an organization for educational resources through technical training, will host a trip to Cape Cod, Sept. 7-11. Ferry tours to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and a stop at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut will be included. The cost of $617 (double occupancy) and $755 (single occupancy) will include four breakfasts and four dinners.

      Scholarships being offered
            The CentraState Associated Auxiliaries Scholarship Program will offer three scholarships this year to community volunteers. Two will be to graduating high school seniors pursuing a career in the health care field. The third scholarship will be awarded to an adult returning to college to pursue a career in the health care field.

      Local Rock'n Music Idol finalists announced
            Rock'n Music Academy has announced the names of the contestants who have advanced to the finalist category in the Rock'n Music Idol contest, "a search for New Jersey's most impressive and up-and-coming musicians." The winners will write and record an original song with professional songwriters, take part in a photo shoot and carry the title of Rock'n Music Idol 2007- 2008.

      Arc/VSA celebrate anniversary of gallery
            The artists and staff of Arc Resources Unlimited (ARU) and VSA arts of New Jersey will be celebrate the first anniversary of the collaboration of the two organizations at the Freehold Mall April 18. The festivities will begin with an open house at noon followed by a reception from 2:30- 4 p.m. at the gallery located in the Freehold Raceway Mall.
