Marlboro student's poem published in magazine
      The March 2008 issue of "Highlights for Children" has published a poem titled "Baseball" by 9-year-old Michael Astarita Jr., a fourth-grade student at the Robertsville School, Marlboro. Michael, the child of Michael and Natalie Astarita of Morganville, enjoys baseball, reading, basketball, magic and math. He hopes to be a baseball player when he grows up.

      Freehold Soil Conservation District will award three $2,000 scholarships to college students majoring in a conservation related field. The Neal Munch and Mac Clark Scholarships have been awarded for 29 consecutive years honoring their contribution and service to the field of conservation.

      The Monmouth County Park System's boat ramp at the Manasquan Reservoir, Windeler Road, Howell, is now open for the season. Open through Nov. 30, seasonal and daily boat launch passes are available. The cost is $5 daily or $40 seasonal.
