      Time for Freehold to embrace new reality
            The anti-immigrant crowd has spewed much hate in recent years. But it seems that Dave Landry managed to be all-encompassing during his xenophobic and ill-informed diatribe in his letter to the editor, ("Town Must Keep Going After Residential Overcrowding," News Transcript, March 12, 2008).

      Freehold can move quietly to apply for 287(g) federal program
            The illegal occupation of Freehold Borough by foreign nationals continues unabated. The good news is, however, that the mayor has apparently relented in his effort to appoint an alleged illegal alien, nonresident to the borough's Human Relations Committee.

      Better explanation needed on new positions in budget
            It seems that the only people not listening to the outrage of government spending is the Freehold Township Board of Education. Gov. Corzine and the Monmouth County (freeholders) have introduced either flat or reduced budgets, but here in Freehold Township the budget is increasing over 5 percent.

      State ethics panel taking a long time to review case
            It would seem that the state's ethics board either needs a great increase in manpower or disbandment. At the urging of my Township Council, in May 2007, I filed a complaint with my local ethics board against a zoning board member regarding a hateful rant against working poor posted on NJ.com in a local forum.

      Please help make a difference for inner-city children
            As we experience the end of a mild winter, thoughts of spring and summer do not linger far behind. The days grow longer, nature comes alive around us and summer plans begin to take shape. Summer provides an opportunity for us to share the sights and sounds of our community with others less fortunate.
