      Board will cut remaining librarian in school district
      Parents, union reps lament move scheduled to take effect in Sept.
            FREEHOLD - The $1.5 million in additional state aid that the Freehold Borough K-8 School District will receive in the 2008-09 school year "will not go as far as you think." These words were spoken by Board of Education President Jim Keelan during a March 3 meeting.

            MANALAPAN - The pupils in Briana Druckman's sixth-grade gifted and talented class at the Pine Brook School wanted to do something about hunger in the world. While the children were trying to decide which global effort deserved their attention, Druckman suggested that they could accomplish their goal right here at home in Manalapan.

      Howell administrators say they are waiting for answers on waivers
            HOWELL- Residents and people who do not want to see the Ardena School closed came before the Board of Education on March 5 looking for answers. They have two basic questions: How will the district's 2008-09 school year budget affect taxpayers? and Is the board planning to close one of the district's 13 schools?
