N.J. Youth Orchestra to perform in Freehold Twp.
      The Freehold Township Senior Center, 116 Jackson Mills Road, Freehold Township, will be the site of a concert by the New Jersey State Youth Orchestra March 20. The evening will begin with dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the show at 6:30 p.m. The cost of $10 per person includes both. There is no charge for show only. Reservations must be made by March 14.

Earth Day open house to be held at reservoir
      Earth Day is every day at the Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center, Georgia Tavern Road, Howell, but onApril 19, the Monmouth County Park System will host an open house in honor of the occasion. Held from noon to 5 p.m., this event will feature nature walks, crafts, and a reptile show. Boat tours (for a fee) will leave from the visitor center on Windeler Road.

Catena school fundraiser planned at country club
      A fundraiser to support educational programs for the students at Joseph J. Catena Elementary School in Freehold Township will be held from 6-11 p.m.April 17 at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale. "An Evening on Broadway," will include a four-course dinner, dancing and a gift auction.

Springsteen performance to benefit Basie theater
      Bruce Springsteen will perform a benefit concert at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank on May 7. Proceeds from "An Evening with Bruce Springsteen" will benefit the historic Count Basie Theatre and help offset the cost of the renovation and restoration of the theatre that will begin this summer.

      The Manalapan High School Booster Club has a scholarship program for graduating seniors who plan to continue their education. Two scholarships are being offered in the amount of $1,000 each for students who will be attending a four-year college.

      On March 14 the YMCA of Western Monmouth County will celebrate the 87th annual Black-tie Gala at the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan. The Gala Committee led by Chairman Kenneth Thomson, Freehold, announced the selection of honorees Abraham S. Opatut of Freehold, who is the president of Colonial Foods Inc.
