      Special memories made on Grandparents Day
            FREEHOLD - Grandparents rule and children at the St. Rose of Lima School, Lincoln Place, had a chance to prove it at a special event on Jan. 28. The celebration of grandparents included a liturgy officiated by the Rev. Rocco Cuomo, which featured a group of firstgraders who explained how much their grandparents meant to them.

      Teachers, board still negotiating
            MANALAPAN - Board of Education members listened to accolades followed several times by applause and standing ovations as person after person, most of them teachers, beseeched the members of the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education to approve a new deal for the Manalapan-Englishtown Education Association (MEEA).

      School times expected to remain unchanged
            FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - For now, Freehold Township K-8 school times will remain unchanged. During December and January discussions were held to address concerns for parents of elementary school and middle school children in regard to a possible change in school times.

      Applegate pupil wins club's annual spelling bee
            FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - One by one, the fifth-graders stepped up to the podium and took turns spelling words c-o-r-r-e-c-t-l-y. The room at the Early Childhood Learning Center, Stillwells Corner Road, was filled with more than 200 people.
