      School enrollment holding steady in Marlboro district
            MARLBORO- Pupil enrollment for the 2008-09 school year in Marlboro's schools is projected to remain generally flat, according to Assistant Superintendent Marc Gaswirth. A presentation of the K-8 school district's enrollment projections was offered during the Board of Education's workshop meeting on Dec. 11.

      K-8 district may profit from sale of old school
            FREEHOLD - A local landmark that has been in a state of disrepair for years may be brought back to life in the near future. The brick building on Bennett Street that was first a school and later housed the town's police department has been vacant for several years since the police moved into new headquarters at the Rug Mill Towers on Jackson Street.

      Howell schools will take new look at enrollment
            HOWELL- In the face of a declining K-8 school enrollment, the Howell Board of Education has hired T&M Associates to conduct a demographic study of the school district as it plots a course for the future.

      MHS invites MEMS 8th-graders to orientation
            The administration, staff and students of Manalapan High School invite all eighth-grade students from Manalapan-Englishtown Middle School (MEMS) and their parents to a special orientation. The orientation will be held Jan. 17, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Manalapan High School on Church Lane in Manalapan.

      Cherished memories
           PHOTOS BY SCOTT FRIEDMAN Dec. 17 was a time for memories at Manalapan High School as the school's ADAPT organization held its annual candlelight vigil. This year's event honored the memory of Manalapan graduate Carlee Wines, who was killed by a hit-and-run driver on the University of Connecticut campus in January 2007. At right, Mitchell Rosenberg, 16, listens to student poems being read aloud.
