Junior firefighters collect aluminum recyclables
      The Adelphia Fire Company Junior Firefighters are collecting aluminum recyclables to raise funds for the St. Barnabas Burn Center's Aluminum Cans for Burned Children program. All donations can be dropped off at the Adelphia Fire Company firehouse on Route 524 in the Adelphia section of Howell.

Taekwondo school raises $1,000 for charities
      Blue Dragon Martial Arts, a taekwondo school in Marlboro, raised $1,000 during its "2007 Kick for a Cause" kick-athon fundraiser at Marlboro Day, Sept. 9. Students ranging in age from 4 to 22 performed their taekwondo techniques under the direction of their instructor, Master James Hsu.

Work of local artists will be displayed on calendar
      Stephen Bibby of Freehold and Gary Gellman of the Adelphia section of Howell are among 12 artists selected to showcase their photographs in the 2008 OceanFirst Bank Calendar. The photographs depict the beauty of nature through the changing seasons. Each selected artist will receive credit for the photograph along with the town the artist is from and the name of the photo.

      Donations of used books are being accepted by the Freehold area branch of the American Association of University Women for its annual book sale in 2008. Adult and children's fiction and nonfiction books are being sought. Textbooks and encyclopedias will not be accepted.
