      For McInerney taekwondo runs in family
            Laurie McInerney doesn't like to bring attention to herself. But when you are a three-time world champion, that's kind of hard. McInerney, who runs the ATA (American Taekwondo Association) Black Belt Academy in Marlboro, won the world championship in sparring, as well as a bronze medal in traditional forms at the ATA World Championships held earlier this summer in Little Rock, Ark.

      Manalapan 9-year-olds win Ripken District title
            No matter the level of baseball you play at, it's pitching and defense that makes the difference. Steve Kawa, manager of the Manalapan Baseball Association's 9-year-old Cal Ripken all-star team, stressed that with his club, resulting in a District 11 pennant and a trip to the state final.

      Workley the best in FARC's predicted time race
            Time was on Daryl Workley's side.The Freehold Area Running Club's (FARC) Summer Race Series concluded its 25th year last Wednesday with the annual Predicted Time race. Runners were required to put down a time they predicted they would finish the 5K race inside Battlefield State Park in Manalapan. Runners and racewalkers would not have the aid of a wristwatch or race clock.

            The Central Jersey Tornado 14U Fastpitch Softball Organization is currently looking for players to fill out its roster for the 2007-08 season. Girls most be born in 1993 or 1994 to be eligible. All positions are welcomed. Tryouts will be held on Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. and Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. The location is to be determined.
