Winning a championship was so much fun that the Colts Neck High School baseball team decided to do it twice. Back in the cold days of April, the Cougars set out to win the program's first championship. Four-year starters A.J. Rusbarsky and Dominick Hayes spearheaded the drive, but they got a lot of help from players like catalyst Ashton Jackson and pitcher Anthony DeSclafani. More ... The seniors led the Manalapan High School softball team to its third consecutive Shore Conference A North Division title, a school record. Blum, an ex-Howell High School All-State offensive lineman who went on to star at Rowan University, plays center for the Reading Express of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA). More ... Marlboro United, a 2007-08 U11 girls travel team that plays in the Monmouth-Ocean Soccer Association National I Division, is looking for one or two players for the fall U11 girls 2007 and spring 2008 seasons. The United is looking for committed, skilled players with travel experience who are looking to join and have fun with a group of players with a number of years of travel experience. More ... The opening night of the Freehold Area Running Club's Summer 5K Race Series at Battlefield State Park, Manalapan, belonged to the O'Flaherty brothers. Cody and Michael O'Flaherty ran together, finishing in a virtual dead-heat as the series began its 25th year Wednesday evening. More ... Kristi Kwiatkowski, Jamie Shapiro and coach Ron Fazio are the newest additions to the Manalapan High School Hall of Fame. Kwiatkowski, class of 2001, was the News Transcript's Senior Athlete of the Year when she led the Braves to the Shore Conference A North Division title and the Shore Conference Tournament championships (the only SCT crown in school history). More ... Don "the Sanke" Prudhomme enjoyed many a weekend at Raceway Park. During his famed National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Hall of Fame career, Prudhomme won Funny Car titles at the Old Bridge drag strip five times. More ... |
