      Resident says taxes are forcing some people to leave Manalapan
            I have sent Manalapan Mayor Andrew Lucas and Township Committeeman Anthony Gennaro the following letter. I read in the June 20 issue of the News Transcript an article by Kathy Baratta concerning the Manalapan budget ("Officials Taking Another Look at Town Budget"). There are a lot of numbers.       Handlin saluted for shining light on drinking problem
            I would like to publicly thank state Assemblywoman Amy Handlin for bringing attention to the underage drinking situation at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel. Underage drinking at this venue has gotten to be a public health issue and is totally out of hand. We all need to see underage drinking as it really is - illegal, unacceptable and unhealthy.

            It has been a while since I read a letter as hateful as the one written by Joan Kelly ("Government Must Respond to Illegal Residents," News Transcript, June 20). It seems that you would like Freehold to return to the terrible days of 2003 and 2004.

      Manalapan teen should have received harsher penalty
            What message does this slap on the wrist do to the young bright senior from Manalapan High School ("Teen Has Chance to Clear Record," News Transcript, June 13). Dealing with cocaine in a school zone has to come with hard time, certainly a period of parole. No, not in this land of Oz dealings with the prosecutor and the family.
