      Cougar girls dominate District championships
      Unachukwu, Batts set records
            Colts Neck showcased its all-around talent while Marlboro's Ada Unachukwu and Kristen Batts set records at Thursday's Freehold Regional District Girls Track and Field Championships. Joe Lykes' Cougars piled up the points everywhere in capturing their third straight District title with 161 points. Runner-up Freehold Township scored 103.6 and third-place Marlboro had 98.

            Craig Forys keeps finding ways to leave his mark on New Jersey high school track and field. As if the Colts Neck senior hadn't done enough already with his trunkload of Meet of Champions titles, the Holmdel Park course record and a national championship, he added to his growing legend Friday night when he toppled three state records in one race.

A sore back sidelined pole vaulter Devin Moore. Craig Forys sat the meet out to get ready for what would prove to be a successful assault the next day on the state two-mile record.       Jersey Blues won GSAC co-championship
            Johnny Johnson has had an entire season to digest what his Brookdale Community College baseball team does best, and what it doesn't do so well. This week, it will be back to training camp for the Jersey Blues as they prepare for the Region XIX Tournament in Gloucester/Camden. The Blues go into the tourney as the No. 2 seed behind Burlington.

            Monmouth University pitcher Brad Brach collected his second Akadema/ Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors in the last three weeks. The first time, the Freehold Township High School grad had pitched a no-hitter. This time around the right-hander threw a complete game, two-hit shutout as Monmouth beat Central Connecticut State, 2-0.
