      Veterans hospital should remain open at fort
            I want to draw your attention to the excellent work Freeholder Lillian Burry has been doing for Monmouth County residents. We are very fortunate to have a fighter like Freeholder Burry, who, as the designated Fort Monmouth Economic Revital-ization Planning Authority liaison, has vehemently opposed the closing of the veterans hospital inside Fort Monmouth.

      Residents cannot afford to take a 'wait-and-see approach'
            Maybe your article "Resi-dents Complain About Backyard Water Woes" (News Transcript, April 4, 2007) had to leave out details due to space, but I shudder to read that residents in developments with problems are "taking a wait-and-see approach," or that they worry that their warranty deadlines are about up and nothing's been done.

      Parents need some help in training teenagers to drive
            I read the article "Commission Would Study Teen Driving" (News Transcript, Jan. 31, 2007) and agree that we need to do more to ensure the safety of our teen drivers. As a mother of a 16-year-old, soon to get his license, I am concerned about what may lie ahead.

Bobby Kennedy set the gold standard for public service, integrity, intelligence, independence, dedication and compassion.       Youth league hopes to make parade an annual event
            The Board of Directors of the Manalapan Baseball and Softball Association thanks everyone involved who made the first opening day parade such a success. Over 70 teams participated in our parade from Milford Brook School to the American Legion Field on April 14.
