Students pay a visit to senior center and brighten up the day

      HOWELL - Every day at the Howell Senior Center there is a hot lunch waiting, a room full of people who already know your name, and a program that has been prepared just for the community's older adults. The programs run the gamut from crafts and ceramics to exercise and intergenerational activities that foster an interaction between young people and the older adults.

Memorial middle school selected as grant recipient
      MARLBORO - Marlboro Memorial Middle School, under the leadership of Principal Joanmarie Penney, Vice Principal Mark Edery and Vice Principal John Pacifico, has been awarded a $10,000 grant for the New Jersey Department of Education's Caring Schools Inclusion Project (CSIP), one of only 12 middle schools in the state that received this award.

      Krista Kohlmann, daughter of Mary and Russell Kohlmann of Manalapan, has qualified for inclusion on the Rutgers College dean's list at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, where she is a junior majoring in psychology and journalism. She is a 2004 graduate of Manalapan High School.

      Four Manalapan residents are running for three three-year terms on the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education in the April 17 school election. One Manalapan resident is running unopposed to complete an unexpired term.

Pupils show concern for U.S. troops

      HOWELL - Members of the Howell Middle School North Student Council paid tribute to U.S. military forces on March 27 when they delivered 55 boxes of goods to the New Jersey National Guard Armory in Toms River. Students filled the boxes with toiletries and snacks, and wrote thank you letters to U.S. personnel who are serving overseas.

Two ballot questions posed in H.S. district

      Voters who live in the Freehold Regional High School District's eight sending communities will answer two ballot questions in the April 17 school election. The first question will ask voters to approve a general fund tax levy of $105.3 million to support a budget that totals $165.1 million for the 2007-07 school year.
