      Lecture on cosmetic surgery set for April 9
            An in-depth view of cosmetic surgery will be hosted by the Monmouth County Park System April 9 from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Dorbrook Recreation Area Visitor Center, Route 537, Colts Neck. Sigmund Sattenspiel, M.D., past president of N.Y. Facial Plastic Surgery Society, will present "Cosmetic Surgery," an overview of the various techniques and methods used.

      Downed wires caused Sweetmans Lane to be closed
            Sweetmans Lane in Manalapan was closed for about two hours on March 29 beginning at 7:15 a.m. Manalapan Police Chief Stuart Brown said the road's closure and subsequent traffic diversions were made necessary due to downed electrical wires along Sweetmans Lane. Brown said authorities were not certain what caused the wires to come down.

      Volunteers needed to help provide fun for kids
            The Alliance for the Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Abuse is seeking volunteers to paint children's faces, wear a mascot costume and distribute information during Manalapan Day, June 9, from 4-10 p.m. at the Manalapan Recre-ation Center.

      Holocaust presentation at Freehold senior center
            A member of the Freehold Township Senior Center will present her personal story as a Holocaust survivor, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the center, 116 Jackson Mills Road, Freehold Township. She will also answer questions regarding the ordeal and how she was able to survive. The program is presented by the Freehold Township Senior Center and Congregation Kol Am.

      Get an 'extreme health makeover' in 10 weeks
            Monmouth Worship Center will offer a 10-week course for the community called "Extreme Health Makeover." The course will cover nutrition, exercise, stress and time management and how to have a healthy immune system. Begin-ning April 4 at 7:45 p.m., the course will be taught by Dr. Joseph Cilea.       Soap opera stars will visit 'Stars That Shine'
            The second annual "Stars That Shine" casino night karaoke and celebrity bartending soap opera event has been scheduled for April 14 at the Deal Golf and Country Club, Deal. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Central Jersey Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

      Library programs focus on Jewish Heritage Week
            "Generation to Generation: Musical Moments in Monmouth County Jewish History" will be featured at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, April 22 at 2 p.m. in recognition of Jewish Heritage Week. Jewish Heritage Week, April 22-28, was first proclaimed by President Reagan in 1981, in homage to the significant contributions made by the Jewish community to the United States.
